Manduka is Hiring a Controller Near El Segundo, CA
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for oversight of all accounting, and reporting activities. This is a hands-on role with the Controller leading as well as performing day-to-day accounting responsibilities and managing a team of 3 Direct reports. The Controller will ensure that Manduka has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and timely financial reports.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements including inventory costing, revenue recognition, liabilities, taxes, and equity transactions.
- Maintain and develop internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and actual expenditures.
- Coordinate and manage all audit activity.
- Manage the accounting close processes and consolidations to meet internal and external deadlines.
- Convert and consolidate foreign currency account balances into USD while following US GAAP in regard to foreign currency translation calculations.
- Prepare pro-forma financials, GAAP financials and other ad-hoc reports.
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working with the CFO.
- Review and ensure compliance with all federal, state and local taxes, property taxes, and other external reporting as deemed necessary.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff and all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Qualifications
This is an extraordinary opportunity for someone 5-10 years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit. Candidates must have public and private accounting experience, preferably with international experience. Other ideal qualifications include:
- Personal qualities of high integrity, strong communicator and a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own the responsibilities of the accounting department.
- Solid experience coordinating audit activities, managing reporting, general ledger, payroll, sales incentives, stock compensation, taxes, purchase accounting.
- Inventory Accounting - must provide expertise in all aspects of manufacturing and production process accounting including specific transactions (Work Orders, Inventory Items, Bills of Materials, etc.) with the ability to effectively teach others as necessary.
- Must be able to manage Cost of Goods Sold and Operating Expense cost containment.
- Skilled in financial forecasting and financial modeling.
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software; experience with Net Suite or Oracle preferred.
- Fit in the existing team, commitment to mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse and cohesive team is critical and a must have.
- CPA strongly preferred
